That was the whole point of the video. She was meant to acknowledge the camera, the viewer who is supposed to be her boyfriend that instructed her (in the phone call) to put on a show for him with the sleepy receptionist. She's doing it for his viewing pleasure and it was specifically written in the script for her to constantly smile and wink to the camera.
